After viewing this page and the music CD covers, you'll notice that Christmas has gone to the dogs! This is something that started back in the 1980s. Dan Love's dogs, they're his favorite animal. He thought it fitting to devote the innocence and playfulness of such loving creatures to the holiday. And he's inviting all of you to submit photos of your dog to the "Patches" Photo Gallery below. Dan has plans on releasing a new Christmas album in the near future with new dogs in mind for the cover. Happy Holidaze features an old friend's Scottie Terrier, "TG" and Happy Holidaze 2 features a Shih-tzu named "Pepe." Both pups have sadly departed, but we'll always remember them for the joy they gave to us all around the holidays and throughout the year. Love your pets because the time we have with them is much shorter than you think.

Interesting facts behind the music

Featured on Happy Holidaze 2 is one of the most beautiful of all religious melodies. Franz Schubert's
Ave Maria is undoubtedly one of the world's most well known art songs. It is commonly performed in all
kinds of religious services and weddings. Schubert's Ave Maria was composed in 1825. What's interesting
about this art song is that the Ave Maria text isn't the original text set to the song by Schubert. He actually
set Sir Walter Scott's poem "The Lady of the Lake" to the song. Schubert's Ave Maria was originally titled
Ellens dritter Gesang or Ellen's Third Song. This particular part of the poem focuses on the heroine's
(Ellen Douglas) hiding and prayers to the Virgin Mary, which makes many references to the Ave Maria
prayer. The person responsible for setting the Ave Maria text remains a mystery to this day.
